To be 6 again……..

My youngest got a really bad haircut about 6 weeks ago. Kind of a bowl, skater type cut. Except the hairdresser thought that uneven crooked bowl was the way to go. Now, the little guy hates getting his hair cut. He wants to grow it out and give it to bald people. Sweet kid huh? Well, after the tantrum he threw I no longer like getting his hair cut either. So after looking at his mess of a head for 6 weeks, I knew it was time to suck it up and get him in. I did the next logical step in the process which was to tell him we need to get his hair cut. Now, I know you think he broke down and yelled and screamed, but no my boy. He simply said, “No, I will cut it myself.” It could not look much worse that the cut he got last time. And how many times have you wondered what it would turn out like if you tried to cut your own hair? As adults we know we would never actually try it. But he is 6 years old, they can pull off many things we can’t. And why not as a parent, provide my children with a chance to live out their dreams? You are only young for such a short time. Why not have that experience, why not have some great pictures to show his future girlfriend?

So, he cut his hair all by himself while I video taped and cringed on the sidelines. He is delightfully happy with the cut and wants to continue cutting his own hair in the future. I on the other hand and trying to think of ways to tell my husband that the litle guy actually had my permission for the quest. I know he knows I am a wack job but I need to stop providing him with daily proof……..Hummmmm.. any ideas out there?
