My kids

Do you have the time to hear my whine?

“Do you have the time to hear my whine?” Aahh yes, this is a quote from a song my eldest son heard on the radio. Is it accurate? I have no idea. Do I like it? Oohh but yes!! I wish I could give credit to the writer, but I have no idea if those are even the right lyrics. Anyway, my lesson for the day is this, singing these words, as therapeutic and fun as if felt to me, may actually be upsetting to the six year old whiner you are singing the words too. Now, if fueling the whine is your intention, then this as a great, very successful approach. Otherwise, teasing is sometimes the answer to diffusing an otherwise escalating situation. Other times, like today, the choir of my eldest and I singing while the little guy broke down may very well have been the wrong approach. Now before you all decide I am an unfit mother, let me assure you that teasing in our household happens daily and is used by all members, equally and regularly. Timing, however, is an art that however well learned, sometimes fails. So, to families out there, I must say, Thanks for having the time to hear my whine!!
